In collaboration with Dr. Ulises Ricoy (NNMU), this Spring (2015) we will start a new initiative to improve science education and outreach activities for middle school and high school students in the Northern New Mexico Region.

TEACHING and OUTREACH

Concurrently with my undergraduate and post-doctoral research, my passion for science education has led me to different teaching experiences. I tutored middle school and high school students in Mexico, I was an Outreach Educator in Project BioEYES (Baltimore), an international program targeting local K-12 teachers and students. In this program I have taught K-12 teachers and have also been involved in providing students with opportunities for hands-on learning with educational field trips. I was also a Biology STEM specialist in the newest educational effort led by the Maryland Business Round Table for Education to strengthen STEM teaching and learning in Baltimore schools.
